5 CFS Modular Design

Fish Haven

Fish haven

This project represents the first Farmers Screen installations completed without direct assistance and oversight from FCA staff.

About

As part of a broader effort to reconnect Fish Haven Creek for Bonneville Cutthroat Trout migrating upstream from Bear Lake to spawn, Trout Unlimited nd their project partners installed two three-section modular farmers screens on the creek in 2008.

Both of the screens have a maximum capacity of 7.5 CFS. Prior to the install, neither diversion had been screened. TU and their partners built rock-weirs at both diversions to raise the water surface levels and facilitate upstream fish passage for adfluvial Bonneville Cutthroat Trout. They also installed new head gates and piping which delivers water to the fish screens.

These projects are a great example of the simplicity of installing a modular Farmers Screen, and also of great project development which ensured that the sites were appropriate for the Farmers Screen technology.
