This diversion is a secondary diversion and only supplies water when flows are high enough to divert, typically just a few months out of the year.
About
South Fork is a high-gradient stream surrounded by conifers and deciduous trees that provide a high level of organic debris. The diversion is very remote and particularly difficult to reach during winter months.
It was failing due to a passive vertical screen that was out of compliance and could not handle high levels of debris.
FCA installed a new screening system, including:
- a Farmers Screen
- new headgate
- new diversion structure that allows for up and down-stream fish passage
- new connection to pressured pipeline
